Job description

The Food Services team is responsible for creating food experiences that promote collaboration and engage and energize Googlers throughout each day. With more than 120 cafes globally serving over 50,000 meals daily, the team works with a variety of vendors to provide great service, delicious food and innovative experiences. 

As the Global Service and Experience Design Manager, you think about everything that goes into how Googlers interact with food. From our ever-popular micro-kitchens to multi-course meals at cafes, the design, layout and experience of eating at Google should promote healthy habits and social serendipity for Googlers. Our food venues need to support the healthiest, happiest workforce on the planet.

Responsibilities
  • Execute design strategy and design concepts for Google’s food venues and provide clear, effective and timely communication of design direction and changes to consultants; support the implementation of company programs to ensure that the customer journey at Google’s food venues reflects the food team’s mission.
  • Verbalize the case for our new design strategy and prepare, communicate and educate client groups and team on the global design guidelines and best practices; support the global food service managers projects to ensure that food venue designs are aligned with global services and experience design guidelines.
  • Work collaboratively and creatively with the Global Food team to develop new, interesting and engaging Food venues.
  • Provide leadership to establish Google’s food program as the leader in delivering the most engaging and energizing food experience available; stay abreast of new food & health trends to understand and utilize the best solutions to effectively engage Googlers in our food programs, ensuring an optimal customer experience.
  • Act as the global process owner and maintain key internal and external relationships; develop a master list of recommended designers who specialize in food value design and provide direction and guidance to our design firm partners.

Minimum qualifications
  • BA/BS degree in Design (Interior/Service) (In lieu of degree, 11 years of relevant work experience).
  • 8 years of professional (service/experience) design work with a focus on restaurant, hotel or experiential retail design.

Preferred qualifications
  • Proven vision, leadership and strategic skills to prioritize evolving initiatives in a fast-paced environment; able to turn ideas and capabilities into effective initiatives that engage customers.
  • Ability to balance design, with operational needs and budget objectives resulting in exceptional venue environments.
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute on multiple projects simultaneously with little direct supervision.
  • Skilled in the visual, written and verbal communication of design issues with current knowledge of industry trends in retail store and restaurant design.
  • Ability to translate stated design principles / objectives into unique and varied locations.
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel frequently.
