Job description
NESAWG is the Northeast region's farm and food network. We work together with over 500 participating agencies and thousands of individuals, to build the movement for a more sustainable and equitable farm and food system. We are seeking a part-time Communications Manager to assist primarily with electronic communications and emerging technologies to enhance communicaiton and collaboration across the region. As we are a small organization, the right candidate will have a background in communications and IT, and will be able to wear many different hats.
Responsibilities
On a regular basis:

Manage and update website (including troubleshooting, fees and licensing, etc.)

Manage NESAWG / NEFOOD list serve
-
Manage social media presence
-
Produce monthly Potluck e-newsletter (including special NESAWG-focused features)

Manage database
-
Work with staff and Steering Committee to set and implement communications priorities.
Work with Coordinator to prioritize, and as time and resources allow, to develop and update:
-
Website look and content
-
Brochure and other printed materials
-
Tabling displays
-
Press releases.
Other:
-
Work with program staff and partners to support communications activities
-
Take lead in online community building and network weaving
-
Improve and expand online Work Group communications
-
Assist with event planning
-
Recruit and supervise communications intern and conference outreach volunteers
-
Contribute to reports and proposals
-
Represent NESAWG at meetings as negotiated
-
Participate in visioning and planning
-
Other as negotiated.
Reporting
This position reports to our Coordinator and works closely with our technology expert on our Steering Committee.
Qualifications/ Technological
Be flexible and enjoy learning new technologies Have strong competency in:

Familiarity with or compentency in:

Salsa or similar CRM

Web and email hosting services
Qualifications / Other:

Solid writing and editing skills

Experience in and knowledge of farm and foods sytems work.

Able to meet weekly and monthly deadlines.

Must be able to work from home, and live in the New York City Tri-state or lower-mid Hudson Valley.

Desired: good eye for graphic design.

Flexible nature; able to wear many hats; good sense of humor.
Compensation
-
10 hours per week @ $30/hour for 46 weeks / year.

This is a long-term contract position.
