The HERB FARMacy, a certified organic herb, flower & veggie farm and nursery operation in northeastern MA(www.theherbfarmacy.com), is seeking a Farm Assistant for the 2013 growing season. This is a full time paid seasonal position.

Position involves a wide range of work from market farm operations to greenhouse growing and offers a great opportunity to gain experience on an established small-scale certified organic farm in soil preparation, planting, weeding, harvesting and preparation for farmers markets. It also provides an opportunity to gain hands-on experience in retail greenhouse operation including seeding, propagating, transplanting, grow-out and some retail sales. Focus is on herbs and flowers with some vegetables.  

Position requires a motivated, reliable individual with positive attitude, good work ethic, who wants to learn and is able to take direction and work well both independently and in teams. Prior experience in organic gardening/farming strongly preferred. Good communication skills essential. Work is fast-paced, all-weather and physically demanding (standing, lifting, bending, carrying).  

Projected work schedule is 40 hours/week March through October 2013, with variations in work schedule reflecting to growing season schedule and farmer markets. Some additional hours possible in peak season. This is a paid position (starting @ $10/hr with potential for increase/incentives).  On-farm lodging not available.
