Position
Wholesome Wave needs a passionate Accounting Manager that is seasoned and experienced in Non-Profit accounting to report to the Chief Financial Officer.

The Accounting Manager will be accountable for the accounting operations of this developing and innovative organization, to include; the production of periodic financial reports, maintenance of an adequate system of accounting records, and maintenance of a comprehensive set of controls and budgets. In this position the Accounting Manager will need to design, oversee and develop financial systems to; mitigate risk, support good management decisions, enhance the accuracy of the company's reported financial results, and ensure that reported results comply with generally accepted accounting principles and international financial reporting standards.

Responsibilities
•   Help steer Wholesome Wave’s entrepreneurial and dynamic energy and funds so financial decisions are made and accounted for responsibly  
•   Provide support to Vice President and Chief Financial Officer, Daniel Ross, and work in coordination with the Office Management team
•   Manage the accuracy and productivity of day-to-day activities of accounts payable, accounts recievable, cash disbursements, invoicing/billing, fixed asset records, general & entity accounting, internal controls and cost accounting.
•   Use experience, creativity, software and technology to create clear processes and procedures that maximize efficiency
•   Ensure compliance with organizational Fiscal Policies
•   Support the production of the annual budget and forecasts and manage cash flow projections and reporting
•   Grant management, working closely with Development staff on foundation and government grant budgets development, management, and reporting
•   Reporting to CFO, CEO and Directors, Budget vs. Actuals and financial analyses as needed, and provide for a system of management cost reports
•   Develop new financial systems and controls for entrepreneurial programs
•   Interface with outside audit firms(s), banks and lessors, vendors, insurance agent(s), credit card companies, and other outside entities
•   Hire and oversee financial department staff

Compliance
•   Assist with regular reporting to the Wholesome Wave Board of Directors
•   Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual audit
•   Comply with local, state, and federal government reporting requirements and tax filings  

Qualifications
•   The Financial Manager candidate should have a Bachelor's degree in accounting or business administration, or equivalent business experience and 5+ years of progressively responsible experience.
•   2+ years of non-profit accounting and management experience required, 5+ years preferred, experience with federal grants and auditing preferred
•   Understanding of costs allocation and fund accounting needed.
•   Preference will be given to candidates with a strong connection to Wholesome Wave mission and strategies in life experiences and dedication
•   Proficient in Word & Excel, Quickbooks for Non-Profits/Online and/or Blackbaud non-profit accounting software
•   Able to work accurately with excellent attention to detail
•   Good record keeping, organizational and problem-solving abilities
•   Ability to work well and prioritize in a fast paced environment with competing demands and experience working in innovative, entrepreneurial environments
•   Sense of humor, able to work both independently and with a team  

Compensation, Time and Classification
  • The Accounting Manager position is full-time, salaried, based working out of our Bridgeport Office (some flexibility with hours is possible)
  • Salary based on qualifications and experience ·   Benefits include standard Workers Compensation, FICA, full health benefits, with employee-contribution 401K plan
