Job description

The folks over at Industry City Distillery are looking for an assistant yeast rancher to raise, train, and work with our incredible microscopic friends. Learn the ins and outs of our unique fermentation process as we develop and perfect our biological systems. You will be working directly under our biological engineer while you learn everything from propagation techniques to bioreactor maintenance and construction.

The position is a full time commitment that requires a love of process and problem solving but does not necessarily require prior laboratory experience. Our methods and processes, while rooted in hard science are entirely experimental. The ideal candidate would be excited and comfortable working in an ever changing and extremely hands-on environment.

Like we said, you don’t necessarily have to be a trained biologist and some possibly more important interests include brewing, gastronomic chemistry, and electrical tinkering. Above all you should be truly fascinated by biological and mechanical processes and have the work ethic to make sure processes are carried out to the letter.
