ABOUT

Patowmack Farm is a stunning piece of property right along the Potomac River. The farm supplies an on-site restaurant specializing in seasonal and local cuisine. Sustainable practices are incorporated as often as possible throughout the farm and restaurant operation. We are dedicated to preserving our environment. The farm consists of 5 full acres of vegetable and fruit production, and small livestock. In addition to supplying the restaurant with fresh, naturally grown fruits and vegetables, produce is sold at the Lovettsville Co-op market and local grocery stores.

INTERNSHIP DETAILS

Farm hand will help with animal care and maintenance. Work will be mostly out in the fields harvesting, weeding, mulching, planting, weedwhacking and mowing. Must be able to lift at least 50 lbs regularly and endure long, hot days. It’s hard, but we have fun. Job lasts through the end of the season and pays an hourly wage.

We are learning everyday. The farm is constantly growing and changing. We are always open to try new and interesting techniques to increase production and efficiency or enhance our environment. Apprentices will be involved in the whole growing process from planting to harvesting.
