Saxelby Cheesemongers is New York’s first cheese shop devoted to locally sourced cheeses. Saxelby’s sells a premier selection of regional farmstead cheese to retail customers in our Essex Market shop as well as a growing number of restaurants and shops throughout the city.

We pride ourselves on selecting cheeses from small producers who farm sustainably with respect for their land and animals. The range of cheeses available at Saxelby Cheesemongers changes throughout the year as we work with and celebrate the seasonal nature of cheesemaking.

We are looking for a cave manager extraordinaire for our warehouse location in Red Hook, Brooklyn. 

Responsibilities include:
- Communicating with wholesale and mail order customers
- Prepare and dispatch mail order and wholesale orders
- Communication with sales team, Manhattan store and delivery driver
- Inventory management
- Cheese care and quality control
- Receiving cheese
- Administrative tasks: generate order sheets, delivery routes, sales reports
- Train and manage staff of 1 and interns 

Requirements:
- At least 5 years of retail/wholesale sales experience in specialty artisan cheese
- Very organized and detail oriented
- Excellent communication skills, via email, phone or text 
- Proficient in Excel
- Capable of managing projects independently
- Candidate must be willing and able to do physical labor, as this position entails working on your feet, and lifting and moving heavy objects
