Job Description
We are a small scale sustainable family farm specializing in heritage animals, and production of nutrient dense foods in the Southern Oregon area. We are located 20 minutes from Medford, OR on 10 acres. We live on farm in a traditional child-friendly family farm atmosphere. Our customers are a devoted group of people looking for high quality nutrient dense products not commonly available. We provide home deliveries, and very personal service. Our philosophy is to offer a little of a lot of things, instead of a lot of a few things, and to make quality the most important aspect of the product.
Internship Details:
This spot is open for someone who has a heart for animals, sustainable farming, and nutrient dense food production. It is a live on farm position with a certain hours of work per day required in exchange for room and board. You will both work alone under direction and as a team as required.
There will be no smoking, no drinking, and no objectionable activity on farm. We are a family atmosphere with religious grounding and require the intern to fit into our lifestyle.
Desired Skills:
We specialize in heritage animals and old school sustainable practices, producing nutrient dense foods. Our prices are higher than average, with a small but dedicated customer base looking for only top quality foods. You will learn about diet, nutrition, as well as raising animals and some plant based foods. The focus is much more on livestock than plant crops. We have turkey, hogs, chickens, goats, ducks, and guard animals. You will learn how to raise them as close to nature as possible, with minimal intervention.
Some meals will be provided on an occasional basis, in general meals will be separate. You are welcome to live off the goodness of the farm for products available.
Housing is provided as a fairly new travel trailer of at least 26 ft. We will cover all maintenance and living costs, intern is responsible for general cleanliness and upkeep. Compensation this position is How to apply
