TO BE HEARD . . .
you must speak the language of the one you want to listen.
What a week. We continue to be for the things we've always believed in: empathy, equality, honesty, dignity, compassion, communication, community, and respect. How do we get there?
While there are so many questions on people's minds, a major one - and perhaps the most important one - is: where do we go from here? We wish we had 'the answer', but until we stumble upon it, we know it will take countless micro-actions, every day, on the part of many people. This week we'd encourage everyone to take some time and communicate with someone outside of his or her belief circle. No matter where you fall on the spectrum, find someone with a differing opinion or path, and preferably break bread with them. Some say there is no place for politics at the dinner table, but we'd argue that it's a great place to start.
Something tells us that a lot of us are fighting for the same things: safety, security, and plenty for everyone. If we can find common ground, we'll be more effective when we work together.
In solidarity,
