THIS IS HOW WE DO IT . . .
(We're sorry, we just couldn't help including the link above - because no matter how good your week is going, a throw back to 1995 / spontaneous desk dance party can never hurt).
We do things like this: we provide unexpected links. We say the things that you're not 'supposed to' say. We personally answer every email that we receive. We say no to ads, even though they make money. We approve all of our jobs manually, even though it takes more time.
We do pretty much all of the things that 'traditional business' would laugh at, or say is impossible.
And here are the results: slowly but surely we've helped to bring together a community of over 80,000 users and 50,000 newsletter readers (hi there!), and we've helped post over 26,000 jobs. People have established meaningful connections and moved to new geographic locations. The same hands that type terms into the search bar have harvested hundreds of thousands of pounds of vegetables, raised thousands animals, planted countless seeds, taught kids, made and shared meals. (For the record we're still waiting to hear about the first GFJ baby, so if you or anyone you know has shepherded a human into the world as a result of our site, do let us know).
This has us thinking: who else is doing things differently? What folks are revolutionizing the way we eat // work // engage with the world?
We are curious to know about these folks, and to share their stories. If you're stumped, consider these questions:
- What does it mean to be truly 'professional'? Who do you know that embodies these characteristics?
- Who do you know that is doing something that everyone said could not be done?
- Who are those that are 'breaking the mold'? And doing it well?
- Whose work do you respect / value most, and why?
Do let us know if you have anyone in mind. We're eager to change the way we all think about what is possible.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

The new Post a Job page is here, and we are hard at work trying to fix the inevitable bugs that show up on different computer / browser combinations. In the words of the New York MTA - if you see something, say something. It's much easier to fix issues when we know where to find them.
Change can be hard. If you have any comments or feedback,
please chime in.
our job search engine is a work in progress. do you have a recommendation? constructive criticism? or have you noticed a glitch? let us know. we're improving every day.
