WE'VE SAID BEFORE...
that doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results, is the definition of insanity. It may also be true that in order to become an expert at something, you have to do it for 10,000 hours.
The key here is that repetition itself is not the enemy. When we launched GFJ in 2010, and began the process of repeating our company name over and over again, it sometimes helped us to remember that you have to say something 15 times in order for it to stick.
That's why we love today's reminder that seven falls means eight opportunities to stand up. A large part of the daily work we do at GFJ centers around customer service. That means that we are listening and responding to feedback on a daily basis. And it's one of the best parts of our job. Answering questions is so satisfying. Solving mysteries, even more so. And when you can actually take a person's constructive criticism and use it to create positive change - well, that's a good work day.
We're pleased to point your attention to an update in the 'compensation' section of the Post a Job form. This one goes out to Natan and Jess, both of whom reached out separately this year to urge us to require all of our employers to specify not only a type of payment (hourly, salary, stipend, etc.) but an exact wage (or wage range). If you're more in the market for finding jobs than posting them, you won't see any difference in the search filters - the same hourly/salaried wage ranges are available to search by - but you will notice that every job posted after today's date has a wage range specified, if not an exact amount.
And don't forget: if you see anything that looks wonky or are having trouble using this or any part of the site, please let us know.
Thanks to everyone who send us a question, a comment, or a cry for help, today and every day. When we fall, you help to pick us up.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy
