IT'S BEEN OVER A DECADE . . .
since we've attended a traditional 'school', spending our first day after Labor Day in a new class at the start of a new school year. And yet it's still hard to un-marry ourselves from that feeling that today is when it all begins.
Last week, we spoke of the unspoken sense of needing to get things organized or back in order. But this week, there's a different feeling - the one that says, 'I'm not ready yet'. We try to remind ourselves that learning, as opposed to school, does not have a start or finish date. Rather it unfolds and builds over days, weeks, and years. And it's never too late to start.
In honor of the start to the traditional school year, we hope you all will pick up a book, try your hand at a new skill, or talk to someone you might not otherwise have interacted with. These experiences can rival any education available out there, and keep the learning going far past graduation day.
Cheers,

tidbits...
what we’re reading / listening to / watching / noticing / thinking about / captivated by this Tuesday…
A good reminder that 'school' can mean a great many things and take various forms.
'Education should always be an expansion of your mind, a deepening of your empathy, a broadening of your perspective. It should never harden your prejudices. If people become educated, they should become less certain, not more. They should listen more, they should talk less. They should have a passion for difference and a love of ideas that aren’t theirs.' - Tara Westover, author of Educated.
