WE FEEL THE COMPETING FORCES . . .
The nights are long and the days are cold. Mother nature is willing us to slow down, rest up, and restore our energy for the bounty that is sure to return come Spring. And yet somehow the prevailing cultural expectations are to go out, stay up, and party down. We're told to ring in the new year with bubbly and balloons, and dance the night away. But then in the same breath we are pressed to make the most of the new year, set resolutions and stick to them.
If these ideas seem contradictory to you, it's because they are. The outside voices can be so strong that they distract you from finding your own way to celebrate - and recalibrate. But it is not impossible.
In this new year, we hope for you to find your own sense of balance - to express and savor the rituals that feel most restorative to you. It's not always easy to ignore the external pressure, but it is beneficial. Remember that nobody can make you feel inferior without your consent.
Happy New Year,
Taylor & Dorothy
