NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
This newsletter really resonated with me because while I have taken some small steps in these few years, I think the fear you mentioned of not doing something impressive right away has paralyzed me into not doing much beyond it. I do feel good about my small steps, but I'm still in the limbo of wondering whether the food world could become a career or if it will just stick around as a hobby. Either way, your words are always comforting and positively thought-provoking.
- Claire, Newsletter Reader
I would like to thank you both for making the good food movement accessible to employees/employers. A friend suggested this site and it has served as a great tool for me and many of my fellow co-workers I've met and worked with over the past two years. The site found me the job, the job found me a home, and my new home-base is now flourishing with a beautiful crew of family and friends.
- Katie, GFJ Success Story
I posted on your site a few months back and got amazing results. Currently I am working with a young man that might be the best intern I have had to date.

We are so pleased to be of service.

It's officially August...that longest, hottest month of the year when the season feels both neverending and tantalizingly slipping from our grasp. How do we cope? By eating as much ice cream as possible, of course. What better time to use our favorite ice cream vessel - a cone - than in this melty weather that absolutely necessitates voracious eating?
We propose that, before you take that last lick (for today, at least), you take a moment to share your summer enjoyment with us. For our latest GFJ Instagram Challenge, the winner will be rewarded with - what else? - a very special delivery of Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream on his or her doorstep.
Do you frequent a local scoop shop? Make special expeditions to explore famed locations? Or spin your own fresh batches at home? Show us your cones (bowls, spoons, and popsicle sticks!) by snapping an Instagram shot and tagging it with @goodfoodjobs and the hashtag #staycoolGFJ. The person with the most likes at 8 AM on Tuesday August 20th will get a collection of our favorites from Jeni's Splendid Ice Cream.
In case you aren't excited about this assignment already, here's some inspiration from us. On the left is an old favorite - frozen custard from Shortstop Deli in Ithaca, NY - a college standby. And on the right, Dorothy and Taylor catch up over cones at Van Leeuwen Artisan Ice Cream in the East Village (NYC).
Go ahead: make us drool.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

Just Food
Our new friend, Anthony, is a self-proclaimed 'vegetable nerd'. We're pretty sure that's an underhanded compliment. Anthony represents the devoted food advocate in all of us. He has worked hard and made sacrifices for what he believes in, and his beliefs are inextricably linked with his community. Many of us can sympathize with not wanting to brave the Farmers' Market on a particularly cold (or hot) day, but Anthony reminds us why it's worth it. Read More
