Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.

NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
I just love the site - and i'm not looking for a job. It's so much more.
- @vpscartographie
I can't begin to say how big of a fan I am. You're the reason I'm working in food! I got my first full-time job out of college through GFJ, and I continue to look at your site for career information, inspiration, and as a resource to track the growth of other food companies. I'm currently researching salaries for a position I'm interested in, and once again your site saved the day! - Alison, GFJ Success Story
We are so pleased to be of service.

Please forgive us in advance, as we feel as if we're on shaky ground this week. Are the cosmos playing tricks on us? As always, we aim to practice what we preach. Last week we urged you to 'get out there'. We did. The combination of a teaching trip to Italy at the University of Gastronomic Sciences, personal travels to Ecuador, the World Domination Summit in Portland, and Taylor's current teaching gig at Sterling College have us on information (and imagination) overload.
Over the past 4 weeks we've met incredible people, heard their stories, learned from their experiences, and been inspired with new ideas. We feel this positive energy running through our veins, and a supreme desire to make good use of it - we are just at a loss for HOW.
We have a feeling that you might know exactly how we feel: so many dots, but not a clear idea of how to connect them. The frustration of feeling like you have so much to give, but not knowing exactly how to contribute.
We have been through this before, so admittedly it's a little bit easier to relax and have faith that these ideas and intentions will, indeed, be put to good use in the not-too-distant future. But in our culture that values instant gratification - and the comfort of having 'a plan' - we would be lying if we didn't admit that unsettling feelings still feel . . . unsettling.
Knowing that we'll eventually see the light at the end of the tunnel doesn't really help us, because it shakes us up not to know WHEN we are going to see the light at the end of the tunnel.
So for anyone that is going through the same struggles this week, this newsletter is for you. May we all keep the faith and recognize that not all of the answers are readily available all the time. Sometimes it takes just being on the path for the right way to become clear. In the words of J.R.R. Tolkien, 'Not all those who wander are lost'.
Your kindred spirits,

GFJ INSTAGRAM CHALLENGE
#growGFJ
We can find instant inspiration in our latest GFJ Instagram Challenge winner. It's proof that all great things start with a very small seed.
This July, we urged everyone to show off what's growing in their garden with the hash tag #growGFJ. The winner, with 50 likes, is chesleamccaw, who had us drooling with her sun-dried raisins and tree-ripened apricots (below). Keep your thumbs limber for upcoming challenges.
Here are some of our other favorites:
the GASTRO.GNOMES BLOG
No Name
No Company
No Kidding
Did we mention that we feel slightly off-kilter this week? Well here's yet another example. We usually have several weeks worth of blog posts lined up. But a last minute cancellation and a dwindling queue have left us empty handed. We usually turn to you when that happens (yes, you!) and this time is no different.
We apologize for the inconvenience, as we rely and love the weekly dose of inspiration as much as you. But we'd like to put this opportunity to use as a call for nominations. Do you know a gastrognome with a good food job? Did you find your current good food job through our listings? Let us know. We want to share your story.
It's fitting that we are hard at work, at this very moment, on a redesign of the gastrognomes blog that will include a permanent 'nominate' feature, so you can elect yourself, or some other worthy soul, any time of day or night. Stay tuned for that and more.
