WE'LL CONCEDE . . . there is a time and a place where research can help you make a decision. But we find more often than not, the guise of 'productive' or extensive research can keep us from doing the most important thing: simply making a decision and going with it.
Last week we announced that we're giving away two tickets to the World Domination Summit. Should you enter to win? We're hoping the decision will be an easy one, after we've broken it down for you:
LOW BARRIER TO ENTRY
All you have to do is enter your name and email for a chance to win. FYI we will never rent, sell, or otherwise share your contact information - or anyone else's. We just want to be able to contact you if you win.
MOTIVATION TO CONNECT
If you're looking for an excuse to reach out to like-minded individuals, here it is. The contest is designed so that the more you share, the more likely you are to win. It's not about scoring points so much as it is about connecting with people and providing them with a resource that could be useful for them.
YOU MIGHT JUST WIN
There is little risk, but high reward. Two individual winners will be granted one ticket to WDS (a $500 value), as well as a package of useful tools to make the most of the experience (read more on our contest page). The physical prizes don't do justice to capturing what you will really come away with . . .
ENDLESS INSPIRATION
Below are links to a few of our favorite parts of the World Domination Summit in years past.
THOUGHT PROVOKING CONTENT
Last year our favorite talk was given by the humorous and humble Dee Williams, Founder of Portland Alternative Dwellings. We can understand how she's become a leader in the tiny home movement (we'll not lie, she made us want to pare down our possessions and hand-build a humble abode in the midst of nature's bounty).
Watch the video of her talk HERE. WARNING: we can't promise that you won't want to be her / be her friend after watching.
GOOD PEOPLE
We'll say it until we are blue in the face: the key to finding a good (food) job is finding good people. Why? Just hanging around with them breeds ideas, inspiration, and provides motivation (have you ever heard the wisdom that 'you are the average of the five people you spend the most time with'?). You learn and you laugh. And that not only yields great results, but it allows you to enjoy the process along the way.
Who did we meet last year? We were smitten with Marsha. Why? She's just about the most authentic and honest person around (and sometimes she seems like a bit of a mind reader). Meet Marsha for yourself:
LASTING IMPACT
Even years later we keep up with the work of former speakers, as illustrated by our use of 2013 WDS Speaker Gretchen Rubin's Secrets of Adulthood in place of our Words of Wisdom this month.
We hope all this will give you a launching point. But remember: most decisions don't require extensive research.

HEY, WHAT IF I CAN'T MAKE IT OUT TO PORTLAND THIS JULY?
The weather might be warming up a bit, but we know July is still months away. If you are in NYC and looking to make some connections sooner, we have an opportunity to meet up with us this Friday March 13th.
Join us at the Just Food Pre-Conference Networking Reception. Here's what you need to know:
- Dorothy and Taylor will be there. We're always eager to meet GFJ users in the flesh. If you're equally curious to meet the wordsmiths behind this weekly newsletter (or simply catch up if we've met before) along with your fellow GFJ cohorts, then we hope to see you there. FYI you don't need to be going to the conference to attend this event. It is open to all.
- It's an intimate event with only 100 people attending, making it easier for folks to connect. We've reserved 10 spots at a discounted rate. The first 10 people to sign up using the discount code GFJ2015 will get their ticket for $20 (instead of the standard $55 fee).
