MAKE MORE THAN YOU CONSUME . . .
Imbalance breeds issues. It's that simple and it's that hard.
March always instills this feeling in us. In our region it's the cross-over month. We're often oscillating between the depths of Winter and the start of Spring. It's a chance to stretch into the last of deep roots of restoration before getting swept into the surge of energy as green pops up all over. It seems as though with each year that passes, the Spring comes far too soon - before we've had a chance to fully experience the deep rest that we need. This year is no exception. For you, too?
This week, the remedy came - not surprisingly - in the kitchen. Even though it felt like there was no time for it - that there were a thousand other things we could have been doing, including sleeping - we took the time to make a dinner from scratch. While from-scratch cooking is not uncommon in our household, there was something in particular about this meal that felt more nourishing than others, of late. And of course, we had some leftover for today.
Our kitchen is a small example of the larger world. It's too easy to become the hamster on the wheel, making a slippery slope of decisions that erode our environment. I hope that in our kitchen and across the country, and world, we can all take pause every once in a while and remember to make more than we consume. It is the only way to restore balance.
To making more than taking,
Taylor & Dorothy
