THE VERY BEST SCIENTISTS . . .
are humble enough to listen.
Although we've technically passed the vernal equinox marking the transition from Winter to Spring, we write with a view of snow drifts persisting outside our window. It's yet another reminder that things are not always what they seem, and that the ground is regularly shifting underneath our feet.
Our most treasured extracurricular activity is gardening, and each spring season brings the opportunity to start the cycle anew and set out to learn something new. In years past, we've bitten off more than we could chew, so this year we plan to follow the theme of conservation and focus only on what we can handle. Even though there is temptation to indulge in more, we've learned that it rarely rewards us in the end.
For Taylor, that means concentrating her efforts on growing different kinds of tomatoes (as opposed to different kinds of ALL the vegetables she craves). It will allow her to start all her seeds at once, and to experiment in creating the best possible planters / irrigation for them. For Dorothy, that means buying seedlings instead of starting her own seeds, and tackling a relatively small but long-awaited project of installing window box planters.
We're worried about the future of this planet, and we firmly believe that significant change starts with simple observations. The important thing is to listen and learn from experiences. Each year is another opportunity to do so.
To growth,
Taylor & Dorothy
