OUR CULTURE CELEBRATES YOUTH. . .
And there's been a lot of youth on our screens and in the news lately. Watching the Olympics we see folks half our age, or a decade our junior. Somehow when you see them on screen, you imagine they must be the same age as you - or older, given their accomplishments. But as it turns out, nearly every one of the elite athletes is younger.
Of course, this perspective is owned by two people in their early 30's. Which seems like proof that no matter how old you are, there is someone in your life who thinks you're very old, and someone who thinks you are younger than you know. It makes us wonder if achievement and possibility aren't equal in value. Achievement gets most of the attention, but possibility has no expiration date.
We know that there are people in their adolescence reading this today. And it's our hope that there also people twice our age who are doing the same. That's one of the reasons that we ask all of our new (and old) users to tell us your birthday. We're definitely not trying to invade your privacy. We're asking you to keep us up to date on our audience, so that we can develop the best tools and resources for each and every one of you. If ever you have questions about that, or ideas about how we can improve, we'd love to hear them.
Today and every day, we're thankful to all those who came before us.
