WHAT ARE YOUR HOLIDAY TRADITIONS? . . .
This month, we've been following Gina's* path across the country in search of American food traditions. Now, as the holidays near, she finds herself back in her Ohio hometown, where her family will gather to celebrate Christmas Eve with a Feast of the Seven Fishes.
It's hard to pick just one snippet or two from Gina's Food Stories to feature, because the whole story is worth savoring (much the way that you'd prefer a slow cooked ragu to a store-bought shortcut in a jar). But, if we must, here is a little taste that we hope will inspire you to devour the whole thing:
This transcript is the result of the time I pulled out my phone and hit ‘record’ as we reminisced about the Feast of Seven fishes. I now have 50 minutes of sweet memories, laughter, and reverence for family members who have passed. It’s something I truly cherish.
These conversations, like tattered recipes in old script or photos of my ancestors, deepen my connection to the foods we make and the people who passed them onto us. I highly recommend it for you.
How can you document your family’s culinary history?
Happy Holidays - no matter what you cherish or celebrate,
