Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.

NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
Yours is the best website for ag and ag-related jobs I've come across in a long time.
- Megan, Job Poster
You guys do great work, and I love perusing all the different Good Food Job listings posted on your site. In fact, the evidence you present weekly that the good food economy is growing and thriving all over the country was a not-small factor in my decision to change careers and pursue a life in farming. So, thank you.
- Brian. GFJ Fan
Every time I'm on the site I'm astounded at how rapidly it's grown and is continuing to grow.
- Matt, GFJ Fan
We are so pleased to be of service.

When people ask us (as they often do), 'How is everything going with GFJ?', we often answer, 'GREAT!' (because it is!). We are posting more jobs by the day, receiving great correspondence from folks who use the site, and making a living doing something that we love. There's nothing not great about that.
But the longer answer is that despite the fact that we could only work about an hour a day to fulfill the most basic duties of GFJ - such as approving jobs and answering email inquiries - our job is far more fun and fulfilling when we stretch beyond our comfort zone. It's far more rewarding when we roll up our sleeves and put in some extra effort to make connections. And it is more fruitful for our business when we invest the time, energy, and funds into continually developing resources that can help more people.
We are pleased to announce some highlights on the latest evolution:
-
We're hiring! For a temporary (3 months), paid position, the focus of which is something that we're sure many of your are interested in: Communications. We need your help in spreading the word and growing the GFJ community.
-
We added a new section to the left sidebar of our newsletter (right over there!) Each week it will highlight our latest web developments. It's your shortcut to staying up-to-date on continual changes and updates to the site, and our reminder to stay on our toes and never stop improving.
-
We've also added a new section on Upcoming Events (below the latest web developments). We're an online community, but we hope that this translates to in-person communication as well. These events outline ways to take GFJ off-line and put our ethos into action.
-
We're growing. When we launched in October 2010 we had 70 active jobs on the site. That number creeps up all the time, and last week we just passed 700 active jobs. We think this shows great promise for the good food economy at large.
Thanks for being a part of our endless evolution. We hope that we can continue to be a part of yours.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

FoodCorps
We've featured folks from FoodCorps before (remember David? and Jerusha?) and one thing we love about the program is how far it reaches and how many people it affects. Florita is one of those writers who makes our job pretty easy - just publishing the inspiration she has already spun. Her story reminds us of the most basic component of all those who work at, or toward, a Good Food Job: that there may be setbacks and disappointment and
frustration, but this is where we belong.
For those who are interested in trying (for the first time, or once again), the FoodCorps recruitment period is open until March 24th.
