DOWNTIME . . .
I don't often hear folks express enthusiasm for early November - it seems to get overshadowed by October's pumpkins and foliage, and December's holiday rush - but it's quickly becoming one of my favorite times of year. It's a time to officially put the last of the outdoor chores to bed while stoking the fire of indoor creativity and rest (two items that go hand in hand).
I've begun to see it not as a loss of light, but a welcoming darkness - one that invites warm ovens, reading books under blankets, and early bedtimes. No, we wouldn't want to experience a descent into winter every single month - but this particular time of year, it's welcomed.

tidbits...
what we’re reading / listening to / watching / noticing / thinking about / captivated by this Tuesday…
Last week, we shared a story about a restaurant down south teaching The Difference Between Happiness and Joy. A sharp and loyal reader noticed that we erred in regard to the location of that restaurant - it is not in Georgia, but is in fact located in Brewton, Alabama.
Many people discount the void between Halloween and Thanksgiving, but it's a wonderful time - most especially for planting garlic.
As bookstore lovers, we can appreciate this list (especially the last point).
Pumpkin bread was one of the first things I learned to bake (in 6th grade - we baked them in coffee cans). This looks like a delightful grown up version of a seasonal favorite.
got a tidbit? drop it here for us, and you just might see it in next week's newsletter.
