DO WHAT YOU CAN . . .
where you are, with what you have.
Today is yet another election day. It feels somehow anticlimactic, given that with each election cycle the race leading up to the big day seems to start further in advance (we wonder if tomorrow we'll start hearing about the 2020 election).
But today's Words of Wisdom feature hits us at the core in two ways:
1 / VOTE. Even if you think your vote won't contribute. Even if you think the election is rigged. Even if you are sure that the candidate you support or oppose will win, regardless. Vote. And,
2 / Let this be a reminder: while the president of the country has a certain amount of power, there is no one person that will be either the savior or the demise of an entire country. The legacy and the welfare of a nation falls on the collective works of an entire culture and community. The system will only work when we are all both getting and giving support. No matter how you feel about politics, we hope that you care about culture and community. And remember to always do what you can, where you are, with what you have.
One person taking this week's words of wisdom to heart is Sara Curtis, who you might remember as one of our gastrognomes. She's created a platform to highlight the voices in the food industry that aren't usually heard on the radio, and she's eager to hear from you. You can contribute to her voicemail prompts, which she'll be weaving into segments of her new podcast, Today's Special. Lend your voice at http://sarabrookecurtis.com/todays-special/ by December 1st, and your small contribution could go a long way.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy
