Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.
NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
You are like the exact opposite of Lance Armstrong.
- Elizabeth, GFJ Fan
Thanks for recognizing the need to become personally uncomfortable and possibly make yourself look foolish - in order to invite collaboration & increase the presence of divergent voices.
- Alan, Newsletter Reader
Thanks for an eloquent and honest note regarding a topic that, to me, feels awkward and uncomfortable yet 100% necessary. You've inspired me to feel the fear and do it anyway.
- Amie, Newsletter Reader
We are so pleased to be of service.

Change is possible, yes indeed.
Thank you, faithful readers, for opening our emails, reaching out to us with ideas, and following along with our perfectly imperfect journey.
Last week's newsletter established our quest for more diversity and expanded networks within the good food job spectrum, and we were overwhelmed by the thoughtful responses. We are thankful for your recommendations, and humbled by your kind words.
And now comes the real work. We've been in contact with several potential gastrognomes, many of which have thankfully accepted our request for an interview, and are hard at work completing their profiles. Stay tuned to learn more about these folks in the coming weeks. It will take a while - one Tuesday at a time - to integrate a more diverse set of participants, but we couldn't be happier that the ball is rolling in the right direction.
In the meantime, we'd love to share some resources that make valuable contributions to the discussion:
We are far from the utopia that we envision, but always hard at work to bring it to life. We're looking forward to addressing some other controversial issues surrounding the work that we do at Good Food Jobs, including age discrimination and illegal internships. Look for more on these topics in the coming weeks.
As ever, there is great work to be done in this field, and we're so happy to be working alongside you to make it happen.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

Simran Sethi
Writer
As we all know, life is circular. Simran's story is a nice reminder of how the roots of our individual experiences with food - quite literally the first things our parents and grandparents feed us - help us grow to adults and develop an interest in a career that somehow leads us back to our passion for what we eat. Simran's interest in sustainability and environmentalism led her back to food and agriculture, where she has found her calling as a journalist and educator. Simran will be giving a talk on “Looking Beyond Food to the Seeds that Produce Our Food” at the upcoming TEDxManhattan event on February 16. Read More
