IT DOESN'T MATTER IF YOU HAVE THE RIGHT ANSWER . . .
when you've asked the wrong question. A recent NY Times article (see the tidbits below) highlights this brilliantly, imploring folks to stop asking kids what they want to be when they grow up.
Good Food Jobs is, we hope, a catchy name, with the intent of hooking the reader in so that they can reach our site and our community. But our interests extend far beyond jobs. We are most interested in understanding how people spend their days - specifically, how anyone can magnify the impact of their everyday life.
There is no one right answer to this. The value of human contributions goes far beyond the 9-to-5 (or whatever hours you happen to work). Which is why we continually remind ourselves that we have the ability to bend and shape our own work, to serve you better.
Speaking of bending and shaping things, it's been a great honor and joy to reshape the blog over the past year. We loved that the original version, a standard Q&A interview format, allowed us to publish stories quickly and with ease. But in its newest form, GFJ Stories provide a richer, more in-depth look at how people spend their days in the world of food, and the contributions they make along the way. We are also honored to highlight the work of a variety of writers and photographers, expanding the community of people whose work we can continue to support.
Our latest stories are currently under construction. Stay tuned for a new one at the end of this month, and every month thereafter. Thank you for giving us the motivation to continue asking ourselves the right questions.
Cheers,
Tay + Dor
