WE'RE RAISING OUR GLASSES TO TRACY ...
another member of our beloved food and beverage community who we've lost far too soon. On November 11th, Tracy Kennard passed away, after living alongside an aggressive cancer for two years.
In a world that seems obsessed with growth and excess, we honor and embrace Tracy, who was living proof that the smallest literal footprint - in a business or a body - could occupy a disproportionate amount of space in your heart and your mind.
At 4'11" tall Tracy embodied being 'just right' in herself - in her choice of fashion and words and ways - in a way that was inspiring instead of intimidating. She had a most special skill of distilling things down to the essential parts for the most profound impact, both personally and professionally.
She had a giggle that couldn't help but make you smile. And a level of commitment that seemed surprising, only because she had the ability to make everything appear effortless.
In creating Brunette wine bar in Kingston, NY with her long-time husband Jamie, she created a warm and welcoming space where any pompous preconceptions of the wine world gave way to a genuine spirit of hospitality, pure pleasure, and care. She made wine and food enchanting, convivial, and fun.
May you remember Tracy this week and always - by devouring her words, reveling in a warm bowl of ramen and / or a chilled glass of sparkling rosé, listening to her curated playlists, or by surrounding yourself with shades of light pink.
Tracy taught us that blonds may have more fun, but brunettes make the world go round. We will miss you, Tracy, and the magic that you brought into the world.
With gratitude,
Tay + Dor
