Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.

Happy New Year
What is it about the first day of January that makes everything seem possible? After all, our lives are filled with cycles. Months come and go, lunar cycles phase in and out, we have a new day every day, and the tides change twice daily.
What is it about these phases that allow us both to stop and reflect, and to move forward? And for the new year to be at the top of the list?
We're not too sure, but we're happy to accept it for what it is: a chance at rejuvenation.
Let us not forget the things that have happened in the past. 2012 was marked by both triumph - in things like the Olympics (for some), the election (for some), and new jobs and new projects that are changing both individual lives and contributing to the collective greater good; as well as loss, both on the surface (like at the Olympics, or in the election) and supremely deep (as experienced by a world grieving over victims of violence).
While we cannot change events of the past, may we learn from them for the future. We wish all of you a prosperous new year - one where helping others is paramount. We live but very short lives. Make every day - all three hundred and sixty five of them - count.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

We like to check in occasionally with folks who are still technically students (lesson 1: they may have part time jobs in addition to their studies) in part because it's exciting to imagine what good food job they may end up engaging in, or creating for themselves. When it comes to making the most of your education, Sara is showing us all how it's done. She also reminds us that one can never be done learning, even if you're no longer eligible for a student discount. Read More
