Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.

On this chilly gray morning where Fall seems to be slipping right into Winter, weather [sic] we like it or not, we have an important message for you: KEEP GOING. Embrace the inevitable, prepare for it, and make the most of the opportunity because it will move forward whether you are ready or not.
Sometimes we feel as if time is moving faster than it really is, and we catch ourselves wishing we could step off the moving walkway - to just enjoy how good everything is at this current moment and not challenge the status quo. It leaves us in a vulnerable spot, not necessarily feeling ready for the next move (whatever that may be) but knowing that we have to make it.
So in times like these we always remember that we are capable of putting one foot in front of the other, and that although we don't know where the moving walkway is taking us, if we willingly participate then we might just wind up somewhere that exceeds our wildest expectations.
We urge you to take a similar approach in your job search and your life. Be open to new opportunities (while enjoying and being grateful for everything that you currently have). Often the opportunities that make you feel most vulnerable turn out to be the greatest.
And should you find yourself already on the right path to greatness, be sure to share your quest with Chris Guillebeau. You may just wind up featured in his next book. And wouldn't that be a plot twist for all those who first questioned why on Earth you wanted to work in food?
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

We love a good success story. And we try not to be biased when they result from our very own handiwork at Good Food Jobs. In fact, if Danielle didn't seem so perfectly suited for and passionate about her job, we'd be tempted to write her off just based on how jealous we are that she lives in Palermo, Sicily. But once we wipe the green film off of our glasses, we see how clearly she embodies her work, which makes her a gastrognome by definition. We hope she'll inspire you to chase your dream to every corner of the world. Read More
