We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.
NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
I found not just a job, but a career I can be proud of and love doing. I had been looking for almost a year and a half after I got laid off; it was getting depressing. You stop thinking that you could actually get a job that you love and you will wind up just taking any job. I feel like I've been given this amazing second chance. I will shout from the top of the hills how awesome Good Food Jobs is.

TAKE THE FIRST STEP
As you can imagine, we speak to countless job seekers about the path to finding meaningful work. And over the course of these conversations we've noticed one piece of advice always rising to the top of our list: TAKE THE FIRST STEP.
This may seem obvious, but it warrants repeating over and over (and over) again. We find that most folks (even us, at times) are hesitant to move forward without a solid plan - and our intimidation impedes our progress.
We're always on the hunt for ways to share and implement this advice, and this week we're celebrating our first GFJ DAY to drive the message (to your) home (town).
So, how do you GFJ DAY?
-
Check out if there are any GFJ DAY meetups in your area at http://meetup.com/everywhere/GFJ-DAY.
-
If there is, sign up to attend one. If there isn't, start your own.
-
Go and meet your fellow food lovers face-to-face and start conversations about how we can all change the food system for the better.
-
Document who you met, what you learned, and what you ate. All mediums are acceptable (photos, written word, audio, video; just try to capture the spirit of your event).
-
Send us your materials. What did GFJ DAY mean to you? What did you learn? We'll be sharing highlights from GFJ DAY in the weeks following, so this is your chance to get exposure to 19,000+ fellow gastrognomes.
As always, if you have questions, don't hesitate to let us know. We're excited to see the GFJ community coming together, live, in person, for the first time!
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

Loren Brill
Founder & CEO
Sweet Loren's
We can't help but feel like cheering when we read Loren's story. She has overcome a giant obstacle in her own personal health and is using that experience, plus big helpings of inspiration and motivation, to make the lives of other people more healthy. It's probably no secret that we at GFJ have a pretty big sweet tooth, but don't think that we're biased...Loren was a winner long before we met her. Read More
We love discovering recipes that satisfy our sweet tooth without making us feel like couch potatoes (like this one from the incomparable Deb at Smitten Kitchen). Do you have a favorite treat that does the trick? Share your thoughts in the comments section.
