Good Food Jobs is a gastro-job search tool, designed to link people looking for meaningful food work with the businesses that need their energy, enthusiasm, and intellect. We post opportunities with farmers and food artisans, policy makers and purveyors, retailers and restaurateurs, economists, ecologists, and more.
the gastrognomes is a blog for food lovers who want to put their passions to work. We profile the most interesting, engaging, and unlikely food professionals that we find, and we publish them here to inspire you.
NICE THINGS PEOPLE SAY
We have received more applications since this was posted on Good Food Jobs than we had since we began posting the position on various listservs.
- Christine, Job Poster
Though we've never met, I just wanted to say that what you guys are doing at goodfoodjobs is awesome!! Thank you, from your fellow gastrognome.
- Brittany, GFJ Fan
Thanks, as always, for the incredible resources and unfailing positive energy you are providing to the food community -- and for the support and good advice you've provided to me on my projects. It's completely inspiring.
- Sidra, GFJ Fan
We're so glad to be of service.

AS YOU CAN TELL, WE'RE RELENTLESS . . .
in our pursuit of rebuilding a genuine and healthful food culture.
And while we are pragmatic enough to know that we can't fix everything overnight, we are also persistent enough to chip away at it, little by little, over time.
To that end, we have a few announcements and reminders:
It's time for SPRING CLEANING
While we appreciate having you on our email list, we also understand that life is too short to read every newsletter that lands in your inbox. We noticed that of the 18,000 of you on our list, only about 40% of you open it on a weekly basis. If you're part of the 60% that sends us straight to the trash each week, we encourage you to unsubscribe below, as per the GOOD Guide to Getting Smart About Social Media. We'll hate to see you go, but we understand. And if you miss us, you can always check out our archives.
We're handing out SCHOLARSHIPS
We wish there was enough funding to provide scholarships for all 49 folks who applied. Nevertheless, we're excited to announce the three recipients of the Good Food Jobs Scholarship to Sterling College's Vermont's Table program:
MEET ALIA
"...I've witnessed the power of food to mediate differences, heal the body, and engage us with our community. Taste is a gateway to change, and the public needs something pleasurable to rally behind."
MEET WHITNEY
"...We all eat, but we bring different cultures, traditions, and tastes to the table. And if we understand more about the food of our communities, we can understand a little bit more about ourselves and our neighbors."
MEET NINA
"...What food has been defined as has greatly limited the bounty and beauty of what can be laid on our tables. It is time for that to change and I plan to change it."
We look forward to meeting them in person this summer!
We're endlessly INSPIRED
Here's proof that persistence pays off: remember Lindsay, the creative job applicant that we mentioned a few weeks back? Well she was picked as one of 12 finalists (from over 1,500 applications!) But in order to make it to the top 3, she needs votes. Take 10 seconds to make her job dreams come true.
Cheers,
Taylor & Dorothy

Robert LaValva
Founder
New Amsterdam Market
Upon reflection, Robert is one of those people who makes us feel old because we've known him for so long. Back in 2005, Taylor volunteered to help conduct the first ever New Amsterdam Market , which took place on just one afternoon out of the year. Now, if you're lucky enough to visit New York on a Sunday, you can enjoy the market each week for multiple seasons. Don't miss this year's launch on Sunday, April 29th. It promises to be an important year in Robert's mission to preserve the old Fulton Fish Market site, so help spread the word and sign onto their mailing list (it's also the best way to hear about delicious market events that you won't want to miss.)
