Happy Tuesday,
This round of job seeking tips couldn't come at a better time: we just hit 10,000 subscribers this week! And we want to make sure each and every one of you get the most out of Good Food Jobs. Here are some pointers:
FOR JOB SEEKERS
-
Use the search functions. Refining your search can help target opportunities that might be best for you. But remember not to have blinders on . . . be open to new opportunities that offer a different perspective.
-
Use your experience. Don't be deterred by job descriptions with highly stringent requirements. You may boast a skill that the employer never thought of, and that's uniquely suited to the given position. Let them know in your application.
-
Apply. This may sound obvious, but it warrants a reminder. They won't know you're out there if you don't tell them!
-
Apply . . . soon. Don't put off writing those application materials. The longer you wait, the greater the likelihood that someone already snatched up the opportunity.
-
Be creative. If you discover your ideal employer, but they haven't posted your dream job yet, reach out to them to see what other openings are available - or what services their business might need. Remember, Good Food Jobs is meant as a starting point for your job search - don't be confined to the opportunities that are posted. Use the site as a way to network, find dynamic businesses, and seek inspiration.
Check out last week's newsletter for our advice to Job Posters. Happy Hunting to all.

They didn't know it yet, but they were both vying for the top spot in class. Four years later they bumped into each other in NYC, at an info session for the University of Gastronomic Sciences Master in Food Culture & Communications. Taylor recognized Crystal as her former opponent. Another four years later, having both graduated from Cornell and UNISG, they've reunited - only this time they're playing for the same team - both enlisting throngs of food enthusiasts to make a change. It only took eight years. Read More
