We're in the mood to celebrate: the Good Food Jobs newsletter turns 1 today! We can hardly believe it's been a year since we sent out the first GFJ newsletter. We've come a long way in 12 months, and here's a little taste of what we have to show for it:
-
1 year ago we announced our launch to 69 early adopters (namely savvy, food-loving friends, family, and colleagues) . . . Today we have 9,284 devoted followers on our list.
-
Last May we started with a simple weekly newsletter and a one-page website . . . . through that newsletter, we posted 400+ jobs.
-
Five months later, in October 2010, we launched our fully functioning job search engine, which currently houses 308 active job openings. In the seven months since the website launched, we've posted a total of 814 jobs.
-
A year ago we were motivated by our own strong convictions that this service was needed . . . over the past year, hundreds of people have reached out to say how thankful they are that it exists.
But the strength of Good Food Jobs is not in the website, it's in the community. We're fortunate to contribute to the dialogue, tell the stories of people who believe in what they do, and to aid others in finding fulfilling work. The ever-expanding network of passionate people is evidenced by what you see below: new blog posts, job opportunities, events, programs, and special announcements.
If we could accomplish all of this in year one, we can't wait to see what the next year will bring, with all of you by our side.

A NEW REASON TO LOVE TUESDAYS
the GFJ newsletter will now arrive to your inbox every Tuesday morning
We know you're used to seeing us on Mondays, and we appreciate all who have written to say that it's the only reason that they love Monday mornings . . . but due to some new scheduling constraints, and in anticipation of many upcoming summer holidays, we're switching the newsletter to arrive on Tuesday mornings.
We hope it will be a change for the better, but - as always - if you have an opinion, let us know at info@goodfoodjobs.com. We respect and appreciate your correspondence and your input.
STERLING COLLEGE
Vermont's Table: Farming, Cooking, and the Rural Experience
We are honored to announce that Taylor will be teaching the new Food Entrepreneurism section of Sterling College's Vermont's Table program. She's looking forward to exploring the Northeast Kingdom food system even futher, and bringing insight on entrepreneurial practices to Sterling's students.
Are you curious about her course? There are still a few spots left in the program, so if you've got a few Summer weeks to spare, have an interest in sustainable food systems, and want to discover why exactly our area is known as "the kingdom", then join us in Craftsbury, VT for Vermont's Table: Farming, Cooking, and the Rural Experience.
We encourage not only college students seeking academic credit, but also mature students and professionals who have an interest in creating and enhancing more sustainable food systems. That includes entrepreneurs evaluating the food landscape, teachers and administrators who wish to incorporate local food into their schools, and food lovers who want to increase their practial and academic knowledge of sustainable farming.
Fall more in love with the program at http://www.sterlingcollege.edu/culinary-program.html.
GFJ HOMEPAGE PHOTO CONTEST
and the winners are . . . .
First and foremost, thank you to all who participated in our photo contest. We had several dozen inquiries about the details, and almost as many submissions. We heard from amateurs and professionals alike, and - as always - we're inspired by how many talented people are out there, eager to work in food.
Below you'll find snapshots of the official winning photos, as well as some information about the photographers. Stay tuned for the implementation of our homepage re-design, which we'll announce in the coming weeks.
TWITTER PHOTO
by Lindsay Anderson
We never imagined that someone could come up with a concept this clever, and execute it so beautifully. We must commend Lindsay on not only her photography skills, but her knife skills and her creative interpretation.
If you like what you see, check our more of Lindsay's pictures and prose at www.linds-eats.blogspot.com.
FACEBOOK PHOTO
by Nicole Franzen
We assure you that this is just one of HUNDREDS of incredible photos in Nicole's collection. We chose this one specifically to match the blue Facebook color scheme (and because Dorothy and Taylor have a soft spot for picking blueberries together).
But if you do one thing today, check out Nicole's blog http://nicolefranzen.blogspot.com/. If you're like us, you'll undoubtedly want to eat what she's made, go where she's been, and quit your day job to be just like her.

Our fellow online entrepreneur, Liza, is the definition of infectious. Her smile, her enthusiasm, her ability to tell a story – it all combined to make her the creator of a food lover’s video mecca. If you’re the type to spend hours clicking through YouTube clips, you might find yourself with a new addiction in Liza’s website, food. curated. In fact, she’s getting quite a lot of attention these days, and we think she deserves it. Liza was nominated this year for a James Beard Award for best video webcast, and is a finalist for Saveur Magazine’s Best Food Blog awards. Read More

INCUBATOR FARM COORDINATOR
New Entry Sustainable Farming Project
Lowell, MA
With the tagline " create new farmers, cultivate local produce, and conserve endangered farmland" we can't imagine that you wouldn't want to apply for this job.
CUSTOMER SERVICE & SALES
Sullivan Street Bakery
New York, NY
We're going to make a bold statement: Jim Lahey is the reason we love good bread. We frequented the shop when it was still on Sullivan Street, cook from stained copies of My Bread, and lived by the No-Knead Bread method for a few years. If you feel the same way, here's an opportunity that's right up your alley.
ICE POP PEDDLER
People's Pops
New York, NY
Nothing says summertime like ice pops. Help NYC natives cool off this year with the sweet treats of People's Pops. Unlike the plastic wrapped pops from the freezer section, these are made with an abundance of locally-harvested seasonal fruit, sans dyes, artifical flavoring, or any other gunk to muddle the pure flavor of Summer.
