Job description

Work period: January 4 2025 - November 3 2025

Wage: $17.80/hr 

Position: 40 hours/week

Land Steward Farms has one seasonal position open for a livestock/deer farmer. Labor performed by farmer may include daily husbandry of farmed deer, meat goats, meat sheep and poultry (ducks, chickens, turkeys, guinea fowl) located on the farm's properties. Livestock husbandry responsibilities include feeding, watering and rotating animals to new paddocks or pastures. Monitoring the livestock for health reasons. Workers will also assist in trimming hooves and other seasonal maintenance including breeding, birthing and loading animals on trailers for transport to butcher, auction or sale. Deer work may include monitoring of populations, effective culling of sick animals and establishing forage food plots for grazing. Other livestock tasks may include cleaning meat processing facilities, mucking out/cleaning of livestock barns and hunting blinds on property. 

Land Steward Farms will provide tools, supplies, and equipment necessary for job at no cost. Land Steward Farms will reimburse workers for transportation and subsistence to the worksite once 50 percent of the work contract is completed. Under the 3/4th Guarantee, Land Steward Farms will guarantee workers employment hours equal to at least 75% of the workdays in the contract period. Free housing will be provided to workers if workers can’t reasonably return home at the end of the work day.
