Overview: 

The Deli Prepared Foods Merchandiser is responsible for innovation, development, and analysis of all aspects of the Deli Prepared Foods Program consistent with PCC’s Mission and Values. They work collaboratively with Store operations and office support departments to ensure the successful execution of their program in accordance with financial, social, and environmental goals.

Main Job Responsibilities: 
  • Models and provides excellent professional customer service to both internal and external customers
  • Works with the fresh director and pricing manager on the execution of pricing and promotional programs for deli-prepared foods categories based on targeted gross profits, desired market position, and review of supplier costs
  • Implements and maintains deli-prepared foods product and recipe guidelines
  • Oversees the development of new recipes for the deli prepared foods kitchens as well as sourcing of ingredients used in those recipes following those guidelines and ensures current selections are staying compliant with the guidelines
  • Supports co-op-wide promotional plans in collaboration with marketing, merchandising, IT, and operations including monthly promotions, seasonal events, and in-store sampling and demonstrations
  • Works with the Fresh Director in establishing a review calendar for analyzing category performance, new item placement, and schematics for resets
  • Works with PCC Innovation Chef and Culinary Advancement Project Team to develop new recipes, revise old recipes and oversees the process of this for accuracy, consistency and cost
  • Represents PCC in the industry and creates and maintains positive, strategic vendor partnerships
  • Keeps up with product trends, issues, and concerns in order to keep PCC delis relative and desirable by our member base and in order to attract new customers as we grow
  • Works with the Fresh Director and the quality standards committee to ensure our deli prepared foods vendors are meeting our quality, animal welfare, and seafood sustainability guidelines
  • Provides training, mentoring, and development to deli store staff and associate merchandisers
  • Supports store directors, deli coordinators, and other staff as needed
  • Communicates effectively and timely, both written and verbally
  • Works in conjunction with Fresh Program Manager to have weekly store visits in order to support and maintain established deli retail merchandising guidelines and best practices for execution of said guidelines

Qualifications and Skills:
  • Outstanding time-management and organizational skills
  • Proven ability to provide excellent, professional customer service
  • A solid understanding of category management, as well as strategic and competitive pricing
  • Strong analytical skills, including developing and maintaining positive vendor relations
  • Ability to execute strategies that promote deli-prepared foods products and recipes
  • 5 years’ experience in project management for new store set-up or remodels
  • 5 years’ experience in creative visual merchandising; and an understanding of gross profit margins and product promotions
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including online analytical processing
  • Commitment to teamwork and team development, with excellent training and mentoring skills
  • 5+ years of management experience in the retail and natural foods industry
  • Ability to travel to all locations and work evenings and weekends as needed

Compensation

this position is: salaried, varies DOE, $77,824.00 - $124,550.00
