Farm Crew Member Steelbow Farm

  • Date Posted February 10, 2019
  • Location Norridgewock, ME
  • Category Agriculture
  • Job type Part-Time
Company description

Founded in 2017, Steelbow Farm is a small, two person operation. This season we will be cultivating 1.5 acres; organically, intensively, sustainably for farmers market, csa, and wholesale customers. We care truly, madly and deeply about the quality of the produce we grow. We love our work because it is physical, honest, and gratifying.

We grow a rich array of vegetables and culinary herbs along the Kennebec River in Central Maine. We strive for exceptional flavor and quality in all we produce. We are working towards a minimal till system and we farm with soil health and ecological diversity in mind. Being that we are 1.5 acres, we practice an intensive market gardening style, with many succession plantings and mostly all hand cultivation. We do use a BCS tractor for bed preparation and incorporating crop residues.

We as farmers and community members believe whole-heartedly in supporting the renaissance of local, rural economies. We are excited to support the community that supports us and believe farms can be the conerstones of rural America again.

This said, we are a young farm. We are learning from each season, figuring things out as we go. There is ample room for your ideas and to leave a mark on our little farm.
