ShakeyGround Farm is looking for a passionate, hardworking, detail-oriented individual to assist the Farm Manager in all aspects of organic vegetable production. Job responsibilities would include but not be limited to prepping beds, seeding, transplanting, watering, weeding, harvesting, washing, and packing. Additionally the ideal candidate will be comfortable working with livestock and be available to provide an exceptional level of care for our animals as needed. The Assistant Farm Manager will primarily work with the Farm Manager to help implement the 2019 Crop Plan and keep track of organic certification records. 
 
Requirements:

  • maintain a respectful attitude towards customers, coworkers, managers, animals, land, and equipment at all times 
  • work long days, as needed, in all weather conditions 
  • be motivated to find solutions to basic problems and ask questions when appropriate 
  • oversee 1-3 crew members 
  • maintain a positive attitude  
  • maintain basic records and daily logs in compliance with organic certification  
  • professionally conduct themselves at all times on farm property or on farm business 
  • work quickly, efficiently, and intelligently as part of a group and as an individual 
  • uphold ShakeGroundy Farm's high standards for quality produce 
  • maintain ShakeyGround Farm's high standards for cleanliness in all work areas and shared spaces 
Qualifications 
  • minimum 2-seasons' experience on an organic vegetable farm  
  • be comfortable working with and around livestock including sheep, chickens, and cows 
  • positive attitude 
  • organized, clean, detail-oriented 
  • background/experience with organic vegetable production 
  • ability to lift 50 lbs above their waist 
  • basic knowledge of and comfort with basic hand tools and small farm machines including weed whacker, lawn mower, roto-tiller, and brush hog 
  • willingness and ability to work weekend hours through the main season and as needed in the off season
  • ability to stand, squat, or kneel comfortably for hours  
  • flexible and willing to learn and ask questions 

Overall it's most important that you're as excited about organic produce, local food, and sustainable land use practices as we are!   
Compensation this position is : hourly, $15/hr + Application instructions
