for Holistic Healthy Cooking Programs in Peninsula
Homemade Cooking is a social cooking program for optimum health and sustainable weight loss.  We offer cooking programs that teach our members the joy of cooking and eating real food, made from scratch using fresh, seasonal ingredients. We teach cooking skills, nutrition and mindful eating. Founded in 2013 by Stanford founders, Homemade has served over 500 members and helped them cook over 45,000 healthy meals! We are looking for an experienced Kitchen Manager and Cooking Instructors who are hard-working and enthusiastic, with a passion for food, cooking, and holistic health to join our team. We are an amazing team which practices our values of health, joy and community.

COOKING INSTRUCTORS...Skills & experience:
  • Cooking instruction experience
  • Culinary education, certificate or degree
  • Nutrition degree, certification or significant personal knowledge and interest
  • Experience managing a kitchen and staff highly desirable
  • Professional cooking experience in a commercial kitchen or restaurant or similar
  • Training or knowledge of holistic nutrition and healthy cooking principles
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • A positive, enthusiastic ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deal with last minute, unexpected challenges
  • Willingness to take on new responsibilities and work flexible hours
  • Embody and live a healthy lifestyle
  • All relevant and necessary safety certificates and training

Duties:
  • Undertake a 5-10 week Cooking Instructor training program (paid)
  • Teach 2 hour healthy cooking classes to groups of 10-20 (4-4.5 hours with set up and cleanup.)
  • Manage a team of Kitchen Managers and trainees
  • Adhere to the highest safety and hygiene standards at all times


KITCHEN MANAGERS...Skills & experience:
  • Passion for cooking with whole foods and ingredients
  • Organized, proactive, punctual and reliable.
  • Professional cooking experience in a commercial kitchen, restaurant or culinary degree.
  • Experience with a variety of kitchens and cooking techniques.
  • Nutrition education or significant personal knowledge and interest.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and customer service skills
  • A positive, enthusiastic ‘can do’ attitude
  • Ability to work well under pressure and deal with last minute, unexpected challenges
  • Willingness to take on new responsibilities and work flexible hours
  • Embody and live a healthy lifestyle
  • All relevant and necessary safety certificates and training

Duties:

  • Assist 2 hour healthy cooking classes to groups of 10-20 (4-4.5 hours with set up and cleanup.)
  • Prep ingredients for class, clean and set up the kitchen, help class flow under direction of Cooking Instructor
  • In a timely way, maintain records, paperwork and other class logistics.
  • Adhere to the highest safety and hygiene standards at all times


REQUIREMENTS FOR ALL POSITIONS:Basic computer skillsOwn a car or reliable transportation to our Menlo Park, Palo Alto or Stanford locationsAvailable to start immediately with: at least a couple shifts a week from the following options:
  • Monday 5-9pm, or
  • Tuesday 5-9pm, or
  • Wednesday 5-9pm, or
  • Thursday 5-9pm, or
  • Saturday mornings
