Lead Café Cook We are seeking a skilled savory cook who is ready to take on a creative role in our small but rapidly growing cafe. This will include planning, making and creating California/Italian dishes using our own fresh garden ingredients. Help to build our garden to table café menu with creative uses of cases of fresh tomatoes this summer, while working with the owner to plan, and even plant, next season’s crop. This is a full-time position:Wednesday through Sunday 10-6:30 pm
Availability to work until 8pm on Thursdays – Saturdays to cover or assist with the evening shift is desirable.
Requirements:
- Culinary school degree or professional line-cook experience
- Proficiency in knife skills, organization and standard cooking techniques
- Self-motivated to excel and evolve in your cooking
- Demonstrates respectful handling of ingredients, understands seasonality
- Appreciation of and knowledge of wine for food pairing
- Communicates well with coworkers and cafe guests verbally and in writing
- Food Handler or Manager Certificate
- Salary range: $11 to $15 per hour, depending on experience and ability
- Paid sick leave after 3 months employment
- Paid vacation after 6 months employment (full time only)
Pastry/Chocolate Assistant We are seeking a pastry school graduate or practiced self-learner to assist chocolatier with chocolates and confections, baking and pastry and to work the morning breakfast line.
Duties to include:
- Baking of morning breads, foccacia and pastries
- Scaling and mixing and portioning of doughs
- Making and spinning ice cream
- Making and plating desserts and components
- Assist chocolatier with chocolates and confections
- In addition, this position includes:
- Preparing fruit salad, quiche, scrambles and breakfast panini to order from 8 to 10 am and helping with Mise en place of lunch and dinner items including making fresh pasta.
- Basic proficiency in knife skills and standard baking/pastry and cooking techniques
- Basic experience with chocolate is sufficient as there will be extensive training over the next few months prior to the busy holiday season.
- Clean, organized and efficient and able to work with a sense of urgency while maintaining accuracy and attention to detail.
- Demonstrates respectful handling of fresh, seasonal ingredients - including many grown in our own garden.

- This is a full-time or part-time position
- 7:30 – 4 pm weekdays; weekends and evenings on occasion.
- Salary range: $11 to $15 per hour, depending on experience and ability

Servers/Baristas We are seeking outgoing individuals to provide excellent service in a warm, welcoming environment. Part- time to full time positions; day and evening shifts.
Duties to include:
- Taking customer orders at register or table (in the evenings and on Sundays we offer table service)
- Making traditional espresso drinks, brewed coffee, hot cocoa and chocolate, and other beverages
- Serving food, desserts, and wine
- Packaging and selling chocolates and confections
- Bussing tables, cleaning, dishes
- Requirements:Barista and or table service experience
- Able to accurately handle cash register transactions
- Show attention to detail and presentation
- Food Handler Certificate
- Although this position is in the front-of-the-house, those with cooking experience many have an opportunity to work in the kitchen as well. A broad range of skills, efficient hard work, and scheduling availability can lead to more hours and potential for advancement to manager.
Compensation $10.30 per hour plus tips - Paid sick leave after 3 months employment
