Job Description Good Food Awards Fall InternshipOffered by Seedling Projects 501(c) 3 Dates: August 3 - November 13, 2015
Location: San Francisco
Compensation: Small stipend, copious edible perks and the opportunity to work with national leaders in the food movement.

Seedling Projects is offering a full-time (40 hrs/week) internship designed for a passionate person looking to gain experience at the intersection of food, sustainability, community organizing and event planning. The Fall Intern will become an integral part of a small team, with oversight by Good Food Awards founder Sarah Weiner. The internship will focus on event production, community organizing and gaining first hand insight into the inner workings of a small, nimble, effective non-profit. This internship is a unique opportunity to engage with the community of food crafters and leaders who have shaped the food movement over the last two decades and those who are leading the way to the future. Major projects the intern may focus on include preparing and implementing the Good Food Awards Blind Tasting with 200 judges and 1,500 entries; interviewing and vetting 250 food producers on sustainability practices; and preparing to launch the third Good Food Mercantile.

Founders Sarah Weiner and Dominic Phillips bring a unique set of skills and communities to Seedling Projects. Before launching Seedling Projects and the Good Food Awards, Sarah Weiner was the Producer of the Bristol Organic Food Festival, the Coordinator for Alice Waters’ Art.Food.Hope dinners in DC, the Content Director for Slow Food Nation, and Assistant to Alice Waters. Dominic Phillips was the Executive Producer of Slow Food Nation 2008 and is the owner of San Francisco’s premier boutique event planning company, Dominic Phillips Event Marketing.  

About our projects:
  • Good Food Awards: The Good Food Awards were created to celebrate the kind of food we all want to eat: tasty, authentic and responsible. The award brings great businesses the attention and sales they need to grow and thrive. Winners gain valuable marketing opportunities and participate in an Awards Ceremony hosted by Alice Waters in San Francisco.    
  • Good Food Merchants Guild: With 300 members, the Guild is the first of its kind trade association with the mission to connect, convene and promote craft food producers who share socially responsible practices.
  • Good Food Mercantile: The Good Food Mercantile is an un-trade show for tasty, authentic, responsible food. This one-day, intimate gathering brings together over 400 like-minded food crafters and retailers.
 Responsibilities May Include:
  • Liaising with food crafters entering the Good Food Awards
  • Design and production management of Blind Tasting program and collateral pieces
  • Hands on organization and management of the 1,500 entries
  • Manage Facebook & Twitter Accounts
  • Assist with event planning and production
  • Manage website updates
  • Additional responsibilities dependent upon experience and interests
Requirements:
  • Strong interest in food from an environmental, social justice and cultural perspective
  • Flexibility and eagerness to lend a hand wherever it is most needed
  • Excellent communications, computer and organizational skills
  • Concise written and verbal skills, professional and thorough
  • Self-starter able to execute responsibilities with minimal direction
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced environment
