Job Description Pasture 42, a diverse family farm in the Capay Valley of California, is seeking a Dairy Manager to run our small-scale grass-fed raw dairy. We currently milk seven cows on pasture and distribute the milk through a herdshare. We also raise chickens and pigs on pasture, and grow grain, hay, olives, almonds, and some fruit. 

The Dairy Manager would be responsible for the daily milking process, chilling the milk, cleaning and caring for milking equipment and the milk room, value adding (separating cream, making butter, yogurt etc.), and product distribution, and would also be involved in cow health, breeding, calving, pasture management, making hay, and cattle rotation. The Dairy Manager could also be involved in other aspects of the farm if he or she so desired. 

The ideal candidate will have some dairy experience and a strong interest in cows. The candidate must have strong attention to detail and value cleanliness. Compensation will start out as a monthly stipend and grow over time and could eventually include profit sharing. Room and board are also part of the compensation.
