- Job Type Full-Time
Do you have a passion for healthy eating? Do you love great cheeses from around the world?
If you do, we have the most interesting, creative job for you. Oldways is looking for a Program Manager for its rapidly growing program, the Cheese of Choice Coalition.
Oldways is a nonprofit food and nutrition organization with a mission for inspiring good health through cultural food traditions and lifestyles. The Cheese of Choice Coalition was originally established in 2000, through a collaboration of Oldways, the American Cheese Society, the Cheese Importer Association of America, and Whole Foods Market. The program was revitalized as an Oldways program in June 2014 with the mission to support the production of traditionally produced artisan and raw-milk cheeses. Through a combination of advocacy, education, consumer outreach, and community engagement, the CCC works to preserve long-honored cheesemaking traditions and to ensure people everywhere continue to have the freedom to choose their cheese of choice.
The Program Manager for the CCC is the hands-on, day-to-day person in charge of making the Cheese of Choice program both dynamic and viable. If you are hired, you will work closely with an Oldways Board Member, cheese industry advisors, the President of Oldways and other Oldways staff members, on tasks including:
- Collaborating with Coalition partners and soliciting new membership.
- Maintaining the CCC website, and regularly developing new educational content for it.
- Spearheading initiatives to support consumers, restaurants, retailers and producers.
- Partnering with individuals and organizations in the cheese community to create dynamic programming.
- Driving public and media awareness to traditional and raw-milk cheeses.
Even though your core responsibility will be focused on the CCC, every member of our staff may be called upon, as time allows, to wear other hats. So make sure to tell us about any other skills that could benefit the organization at large – such as experience going after grants or working with online education programs.
This is not an entry-level job. We will only consider applicants with a successful work history (preferably five years or more) that clearly demonstrates the skills we need. Applicants with existing cheese knowledge and experience will be at a significant advantage.
Our offices in Boston’s Back Bay are informal. We don't wear ties or heels, and there's a company dog. Yet the atmosphere is intense and totally professional; each staff member is expected to take full responsibility for his or her projects.
