Outstanding in the Field is now accepting applications and resumes for Tour Manager for the 2015 traveling tour!

Full‐time Seasonal job from May ‐ November.
Department:  Public Events
Reports to: General Manager and CEO
Travel: Full time travel from May – November

Outstanding in the Field is a roving restaurant.  We have served thousands and thousands of guests at our long table on the farm since 1999, and have held farm dinners in all 50 states including Alaska and Hawaii!  We work with some of the best Chefs in the country to connect our guests to the source of their food.

If you love food, farms, have extensive restaurant and management experience, can travel well and are a (very!) hard worker, consider applying for our 2015 season.

The tour lasts from May to November 2015 in which Outstanding in the Field will drive through the country producing around 80 events. Events from May to the beginning of July are in California. Travel throughout the US will be from July to November.  

The Tour Manager will be expected to manage a tour crew consisting of seven employees.  The Tour Manager is responsible for managing the execution of  events, and for the progression of the tour across the country.  

With the help of the Tour Manager, the crew will set up and break down all equipment required for events, and manage the event onsite. The Tour Manager will also be given a 1 week paid vacation during the tour.
 
People with prior tour management experience or those that have traveled extensively for work highly encouraged to apply

Tour Manager’s tasks will include:
  • Responsible for overall tour execution on the road
  • Stay in communication with the General Manager and the Director of Public Events
  • Creates daily staff schedule, including decision making on where and when to stop driving
  • Assigns tour specific jobs to staff
  • Oversees all crew members and temporary event staff during events
  • Addresses any HR issues that arise, staff discipline and behavior correction
  • Responsible for ensuring the brand is represented in the best light, and most consistent nature.
  • Responsible for event recaps to Director of Public Events and General Manager
  • Responsible for open and direct communication with General Manager, OITF Directors and Tour Crew
  • Responsible for staff evaluations at the end of tour
  • Responsible for monitoring tour budget
***Positions start in June in Santa Cruz, California and end in November back in Santa Cruz.
A huge part of being a part of the crew is traveling with the team for 5+ months across the country!
