Summary:
  • Assists managing retail store engaged in selling specific, related, or general lines of merchandise by performing the following duties personally or through subordinates.
  • Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
  • Provides outstanding customer service, answers customer's complaints or inquiries and is able to make prudent decisions in the absence of the store manager.
  • Plans and prepares daily work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties.
  • Writes and maintains weekly schedules, ensuring adequate coverage while maintaining payroll percentages.
  • Acts as main liaison between Human Resources and store staff, upholding company policies and procedures, distributing new policies and company communication.
  • Trains, develops, and mentors staff, developing strengths and recognizing weaknesses and providing appropriate guidance.
  • Maintains overall appearance of the store by stocking, merchandising, and housekeeping.
  • Coordinates sales activities and prepares, or directs workers preparing, merchandise displays.
  • Supervises employees engaged in sales work, ensuring proper rotating and stocking of merchandise, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, or preparing daily record of transactions for Accountant, or performs work of subordinates, as needed.
  • Processes employee payroll, ensuring accurate data entry and reporting to payroll department.
  • Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
  • Ensures adequate change for cash registers by completing change orders and procuring change from bank.
  • Prepares bank deposits in Store Manager’s absence.
  • Opens store, merchandises, performs general housekeeping.
  • Performs all necessary closing procedures leaving store prepared for the following day.
  • Locks and secures store.
  • Prepares reports as needed.
  • Settles cash register accounts.
  • Represents Store Manager when absent.
  • Certified Food Safety Manager--main point person for food safety requirements within the store, ensuring safe practices by all employees throughout all departments within the store.
  • Acts as main liaison between store and Physical Safety Department.
  • Conducts Emergency Plans in absence of manager.
Qualifications:
  • 2 or more years supervisory/managerial experience in retail industry
  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Cash register experience a must
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of MS Word and MS Excel
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
