About Us:

Amir assists summer camps in running garden-education programs. Amir Farmers are at the center of the Amir Project, building community gardens with campers, and running educational programming using the garden space. Amir Farmers run garden-based education and other projects in environmental stewardship around camp. Amir's curriculum focuses on issues of food justice, environmental stewardship, and a variety of other social justice topics.


We are seeking Amir Farmers that will be directly responsible for implementing the Amir garden and Farm Project at these camps. Amir Farmers will come together for a training seminar from May 26th - 30 at Capital Camps in Waynesboro, PA. At this training, Farmers will learn all aspects of building a community garden, as well as how to use the Amir Garden Manual curriculum to run programming for campers of all ages. If accepted, you will interview and be placed with one of our partner camps across North America.

Position Description:

Responsibilities of the Amir Farmer:
  • Build Amir gardens with participating campers
  • Lead garden-based activities and educational programs for campers of all ages
  • Daily garden maintenance
  • Be an active member of the camp community
Characteristics of Amir Farmers:
  • Strong management and leadership skills
  • Mentoring and education experience
  • Passionate about food justice and environmental stewardship
Compensation
  • Camp salary is competitive and commensurate with experience 
  • Transportation, room & board at Amir training and summer camp
Important Dates:
  • May 26th to May 30th (Amir Training Seminar)
  • Mid-June to mid-August (summer camp)
While helpful, gardening/farming experience is not required.
