Job Description The Alameda Point Collaborative (APC) is a nonprofit agency operating on the site of the former Naval air base in Alameda, managing 200 housing units for over 500 formerly homeless residents and providing support services including case management, counseling, employment training and children and youth services. 

Alameda Point Collaborative, a supportive housing community serving homeless individuals and families in the East Bay, is seeking a Farm2Market Production Specialist.

Job Overview
The APC Farm and Farm2Market Project (F2M) is a 2 acre urban farm that operates as a small business training program for APC residents enrolling in the Workforce Development Services at APC.  

The F2M Project training program is partially supported by and uses the “real work” production, marketing, sales and customer relations as key activities through which trainees can learn work readiness skills, understand workplace behaviors and practice personal and team accountability.

As a member of the Employment Services team, the F2M Production Specialist acts as the crew leader- modeling and teaching F2M Project tasks and using the F2M Handbook to integrate Farm site tasks with transferable work skills, behaviors and performance accountability expectations.

The APC F2M Production Specialist is responsible for meeting farm production goals and works in collaboration with the Farm2Market Coordinator to design, implement and evaluate the annual crop plan and production needs of the farm with F2M customer commitments. 

Duties and Responsibilities
Implements the F2M Trainee handbook to provide training and crew leadership for F2M workforce development trainees.
Function as the on-site crew leader to ensure farm tasks are completed, annual cropping plan, production goals and standards are maintained. 
Ensures that biweekly harvests meet quality/ quantity assurance and record keeping requirements.
Ensures farm production and site functions, site program materials, equipment and safety standards.
Monitors F2M site safety standards and compliance. Conducts Crew Team meetings at least 1X week to ensure F2M crew shares accountability for meeting project production and customer commitments. 
Maintains crew communication and on-site coordination to ensure work focus and role boundaries.
Communicates concerns, absences and needs to F2M Project Coordinator for follow up.
Maintain production and inventory records.
Works with F2M Project Coordinator to develop annual cropping plan, seed order, and production schedule.   Harvest and Production Records- Clear labeling, inventory and harvest quantity records maintained with weekly harvests.
Communicates tool and packaging/ supply needs to F2M Project Coordinator for ordering and uninterrupted  production/ harvest process.
Follow APC documentation standards and timelines. Partners with Farm crew members to support Volunteer group coordination and on-site supervision.

The F2M Project is a workforce training program; as such, the size of the Farm Training Crew can vary and may have scheduling breaks.  The F2M Production Specialist has lead responsibility for meeting production commitments regardless of the crew size or composition.  

Essential Skills Sets and Minimum Qualifications
Must be able to work the F2M project schedule:  Tuesday – Saturdays, including Wednesday late afternoon.
Minimum 2 years experience working in agricultural production environments.
Have the knowledge and physical ability to perform physical labor related to farm production activities.  (Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, bend, reach, squat, climb etc.)
Must be able to meet the good driver requirements and meet requirements for coverage by APC insurance carrier. Verifiable experience providing direct training, education related to employment.
Excellent communication and coordination skills.
Verifiable experience working as an accountable member of a team.
Verified excellence maintaining up to date documentation and record keeping.
Demonstrated ability to understand and maintain work place role boundaries.
Good time management and organization of tasks and resources.
Sensitivity to the challenges related to transitioning from homelessness to employment while maintaining consistency with trainee performance expectations.
Verifiable ability and willingness to adhere to organizational policies and procedures.
