About the Company

Mazarine Coffee is a new third wave Specialty Coffee Company offering highest quality coffee and outstanding customer service. Opening on San Francisco’s Market Street between Union Square and the financial district in early October, we are looking for a talented Operations Manager who has an upbeat, positive and outgoing personality, extensive Specialty Coffee experience and a passion for coffee and managing in a dynamic environment.  

Position Description:
The Operations Manager will be the coffee house leader and should enjoy working in a busy location, be flexible and adaptable, and lead by example. In addition, the manager should produce high quality coffee drinks while consistently providing an outstanding customer service experience.  The manager will support and motivate his or her team members and grow the team to maintain the highest quality of operation and customer service.  

This is a huge opportunity for a seasoned and creative barista/specialty café manager to get in on the ground level of a brand new enterprise. You will work hard but your ability to make an impact will be great. The potential for growth and opportunity is virtually limitless.  

Responsibilities:

  • Manage the store(s) operation, while ensuring efficient use of resources and maintaining product quality and excellence in delivery
  • Manage the budget
  • Utilize management information tools and analyze financial reports to identify and resolve issues in store performance, such as monthly status report, quarterly business review, cash management, and the inventory management
  • Solicit feedback from customers to understand needs for both the store and local community
  • Build and develop an effective team; provide coaching and feedback while supporting an environment of open communication
  • Identify, create, and delegate appropriate responsibilities and practices to the team to ensure smooth flow of operations Interact with Human Resource (HR) outsource entity in support of HR excellence
  • Actively work with Coffee Trainer to ensure team members are continuously developing and improving their skills
  • Create an environment for your team emphasizing customer service as a core value for the company
  • Responsible for facilities and vendor relationships. Conduct contract negotiation and follow through Develop policies and procedures and guidelines to support operational processes; train staff, based on determined guidelines Develop, monitor, and report on operating costs to the owner and make recommendations and implement solutions, as necessary

Qualifications:
  • Process and detailed oriented
  • Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and written
  • Ability to take initiative and stay calm within a fluid and sometimes hectic environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills to interact with clients and staff Demonstrated passion and enthusiasm for coffee 
Physical Demands:
  • Lifting or carrying up to 40 lbs.
  • Clarity of vision at near and far distances
  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Ability to climb ladders   
Minimum Requirements:
  • Must be able to work flexible hours, that may include early mornings, evenings, weekends, and/or holidays
  • Bachelor’s Degree in business or hospitality management Minimum of 3 years retail coffee service experience, with a pattern of progressively increased responsibility
  • Abillity to create and teach latte art to staff members Minimum of 1 - 2 years of supervisory experience Demonstrated ability to analyze financial reports, proficient with Excel and QuickBooks experience a plus
