Job Description Grant-funded position for employee or consultant. The final determination of such, along with determination of full-time status or part-time status, will be based upon funding available. Compensation is nonprofit competitive and commensurate with experience and skill-level. Projected start date is October 1, 2014.

The Good Food Financing Specialist is responsible for overseeing and implementing the finance-related components of FamilyFarmed.org’s initiatives with an emphasis on building the investment-readiness capacity of the good food businesses we work with. The Good Food Financing Specialist will also provide general organizational support to meet the needs of the organization and office. The Good Food Financing Specialist may supervise and manage staff and volunteers.

Duties and Responsibilities: 
1. Good Food Business Accelerator (GFBA) Financing Management 10% 
a. Acquire, maintain and contribute to current knowledge of program and project goals and strategies. 
b. Keep abreast of trends and issues in the field. 
c. Develop and finalize budgets, contribute to work plan development. 
d. Manage the project life cycle for all financing aspects of program - for the organization and targeted customers: definition/initiation, planning and design, execution, monitoring/control, and completion/closing. 
e. Manage program budget and progress on financing aspects of workplans, troubleshoot challenges and escalate matters to Program Administrator and Director when appropriate. 
f. Develop evaluation and data tracking plans. Implement systems and produce required reports and impact statements.
 g. Seek, develop and maintain strong working relationships with current and future consultants, partners and potential funders including state, federal, foundation, NGO, individual and corporate sources. 
h. Work with management and program team to identify, write, and secure funding, sponsorships and grants. 
i. May manage staff and volunteers. 

2. Program and Project Execution 80% 
a. Execute financing-related elements of programs, projects and initiatives, especially for the GFBA
  • i. Work with fellows to develop their business plan, financing plan and investor pitch; help develop their financial and business skills and acumen; and, facilitate introductions to, meetings with and referrals  to banks, investors, and public sources of funding resulting in new financing deals. 
  • ii. Actively develop a good food financing/investment network and engage them throughout the year and at the annual Good Food Financing Conference.  
  • iii. Manage the finances and sustainability for the GFBA program.  
b. Work with other FamilyFarmed.org program teams and program customers on financing components such as conducting planning, research and feasibility studies, industry reports, business plans, financial literacy skill-building, etc. 
c. Actively work with project teams, consultants, partners, funders and targeted participants to meet or exceed project goals. 
d. Track data for and report as required on projects and programs to respective funders and stakeholders. 
e. Maintain complete and accurate project and program paper and electronic files, including supporting documentation for project financials. 
f. Complete project evaluations and impact statements. 

3. Organizational Support and Development 10% 
a. Execute agreed upon activities in support of the office and organization. 
b. Activities may include: outreach and presentations regarding Good Food Financing and the GFBA; pursuing and developing opportunities to conduct Good Food industry contract work such as conducting studies and reports; and, contributing to the financial administration of the organization. 
c. Contribute to ongoing efforts to streamline and improve systems and processes. 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 
1. MBA plus related 3+ years recent work experience in Good Food Financing including proficiency in accounting, managing budgets, crafting winning pitches, writing stellar business plans and experience closing loans and other financing packages. 
2. Excellent customer service and people skills with a high degree of empathy and sensitivity. 
3. Advanced Microsoft excel skills. 
4. Initiative, integrity, time management, and organizational skills. 
5. Excellent writing, analytical, communication, presentation, relationship development and problem‐solving skills. 
6. Ability to work well both alone and as part of a team in a dynamic and fast-paced, non-profit environment. 
7. Event, accelerator program, and entrepreneurial venture experience desired. 
8. Superb attention to detail.
