Job Description Hartford Baking Co. is seeking a full-time pastry chef to manage pastry production at our West Hartford retail bakery. We are a small, family-owned retail bakery specializing in scratch-made European and American influenced pastry items. We are committed to locallly sourced ingredients and a seasonal menu. This is a perfect opportunity for an ambitious pastry chef to move up into a creative, managerial role. 

Responsibilities
  • Responsible for food and labor cost control for the pastry operation
  • Responsible for the production of morning pastry, scones, muffins, etc.
  • Manage the production of desserts, tarts, bars, cookies, and cakes
  • Ensure the freshness and quality of all pastry products
  • Manage inventory and shelf life of all finished pastry products
  • Maintain a clean and organized production space
Requirements
  • 2-5 years experience producing artisan, scratch-made pastry
  • A dedication to the highest quality product possible
  • Creativity: you will be responsible for any new pastry products
  • Must be able to work as part of a team
  • Be detail oriented in following recipes exactly as instructed 
  • Must be able to lift 50lbs
  • A culinary degree in baking and pastry from a top school is highly preferred
