Cheese of Choice Coalition (CCC) and Oldways
Do you have a passion for healthy eating? Do you love great cheeses from around the world?
If you do, we have the most interesting, creative new job for you. Oldways is looking for a Program Manager for a newly reinvigorated program, the Cheese of Choice Coalition. Oldways is a nonprofit food and nutrition organization with a mission for inspiring good health through cultural food traditions and lifestyles.
The Cheese of Choice Coalition was established in 2001, through a collaboration of Oldways, the American Cheese Society, the Cheese Importer Association of America, and Whole Foods Market. The mission of the CCC was (and is) to support the production of traditionally produced raw milk cheeses that conform to the current FDA aging requirements of 60 days. The CCC has not been active for several years, and now through the interest and passion of several of its founders, it is being reactivated as an Oldways program.
Our new Program Manager for the CCC will be the hands-on, day-to-day person in charge of making the Cheese of Choice program both dynamic and viable. If you are hired, you will work closely with an Oldways Board Member, cheese industry advisors, the President of Oldways and other Oldways staff members, on tasks including:
- Soliciting memberships from cheese producers, retailers and consumers.
- Working with others to build a new website for the CCC.
- Maintaining the CCC website, and creating new content for it.
- Developing programs to support consumers, restaurants, retailers and producers.
- Reaching out to individuals and organizations in the cheese community for programming, content and partnerships. ·
- Answering questions from the media about raw milk cheeses.
Even though your core responsibility will be focused on the CCC, every member of our staff may be called upon, as time allows, to wear other hats. So make sure to tell us about any other skills that could benefit the organization at large – such as experience going after grants or working with online education programs.
This is not an entry-level job. We will only consider applicants with a successful work history (preferably five years or more) that clearly demonstrates the skills we need.
Our offices in Boston’s Back Bay are informal. We don't wear ties or heels, and there's a company dog. Yet the atmosphere is intense and totally professional; each staff member is expected to take full responsibility for his or her projects.
