POSITION SUMMARY:
Haven’s Kitchen is a recreational cooking school, retail shop, and private event space in Chelsea. Our spaces are available for diverse range of private dining and events including cooking classes, rehearsal dinners and weddings, business meetings, parties, and press previews.
The Service Director at Haven’s Kitchen is responsible for managing setup, breakdown, and execution of all in-house private events, as well as coordinating with the Events Director and Chef during the sales and planning process, managing the service team during events, and sending event feedback to management team. The Service Director will also train and oversee the HK café team on customer service skills and food and beverage offerings.
This person must be comfortable with delegation and organization. They must have a strong knowledge of food and beverage, as well as an understanding of table service and event flow. This person should be capable of adapting to a diverse range of events and guests.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Train service team in the style of service, procedures, and mission, as well as food and beverage offerings at Haven’s Kitchen

Responsible for scheduling of service team for all events, as well as hiring and firing

Communicate effectively with Events Director and Chef to organize and coordinate details for all upcoming events

Maintain and continually improve standards of service. Provide counsel to service team and kitchen team, to ensure smooth communication, event execution and flow of service

Oversee all in-house event logistics from a service perspective

Communicate with clients professionally on the day of their events

Event setup and service as needed, especially in the event of small gatherings when minimal staff is necessary

Organize and control all service materials

Continue to develop beverage program. Maintain beverage ordering and inventory

Collaborate with Chef on beverage pairings for upcoming menus

Work with entire Haven’s Kitchen staff, including café team, to improve customer service, hospitality, and knowledge of food and beverage program
EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

Minimum 3-years service experience in mid to high end restaurant, hotel or catering service

Management experience required
